Jeff joined Triwest at the inception of Fund II in 2003 from Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company Inc., a former TriWest portfolio company. Jeff contributes both financial and operations experience to the TriWest team.
Jeff gained significant financial and operating experience before joining TriWest. He was CFO of Swiss Water from 2000 to 2003; and participated in the remarkable success of the company during his tenure. Swiss Water was subsequently listed on the TSX as an Income Trust. From 1996 to 2000, Jeff was Director of Finance and Operations for Descente North America, an international sportswear company.
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Cody Church co-founded TriWest in 1998 and, as a Senior Managing Director, contributes a broad spectrum of financial, structuring, and deal execution experience to TriWest. From 1995 to 1997 he was with EXOR America, a New York-based private equity firm.
Prior to joining EXOR, Cody was a member of the Leveraged Finance Group of Credit Suisse First Boston where he worked with financial buyers in areas of acquisition and divestiture, high-yield bonds, IPOs and re-financings.
Cody graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Economics from Harvard University. Cody was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2010.
Lorne Jacobson co-founded TriWest in 1998, and, as Senior Managing Director, contributes a wealth of knowledge in the areas of corporate development and law.
From 1994 to 1998 he served as Vice President, Corporate Development and General Counsel of Burns Foods Limited. He was responsible for a variety of corporate acquisitions, divestitures and financings as part of the management team for this leading Canadian food company.
Prior to Burns Foods, Lorne was a partner in the Calgary office of the national law firm of Bennett Jones where he specialized in corporate and securities law. Lorne serves as a director or officer on a number of public and private companies and charitable organizations.
Mick joined TriWest in 2010 as Senior Managing Director and brings a wealth of operations, governance and financial experience to the TriWest team.
Prior to joining Triwest, Mick was founder and CEO of Diamond Energy Services, a Saskatchewan-based energy services firm. Mick successfully operated Diamond from 1998 to 2010, and remains on the Board of the company. Prior to Diamond, Mick was employed at ARC Financial Corporation, a Calgary-based merchant banking and private equity firm.
Mick holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Director. Mick also currently serves on the Board of Directors of a number of private and public companies.
Norm is a Senior Managing Director of TriWest Capital. Norm joined TriWest in 2010, bringing strong operations and governance experience to the TriWest team.
Prior to joining TriWest, Norm was President/CEO of a number of publicly traded industrial and service companies with operations in Western Canada and internationally from 1997 to 2009. In 2008, Norm was ranked 4th in Canada’s “Top CEOs of the Year” for three-year investor return from a public company.
Norm holds an Engineering degree from UBC and an MBA from the London Business School, London, U.K. He holds a Professional Engineer designation in Alberta.
Ron Jackson co-founded TriWest in 1998, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in senior management with Burns Foods. He served as President of Burns Foods for the 10 years prior to founding TriWest, during which period the company expanded to generate over $1 billion in sales annually.
Ron has invested in all of the TriWest funds and continues to take an active interest in TriWest’s activities.
Prior to joining TriWest in 2005, Chad worked at Morgan Stanley in the Global Energy and Utility Group in New York and in the Canada Group in Toronto. While at Morgan Stanley, Chad was involved in a variety of M&A-related strategic advisory assignments, equity offerings and both private and public debt financings. Chad also spent time in India, where he co-managed the day-to-day operations for the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley Advantage Services.
Chad currently serves as a board member for the Calgary Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.
He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree (finance concentration) from the Queen’s School of Business, where he graduated at the top of his class.
Prior to joining TriWest in 2006, Ryan Giles was an associate with Onex Corporation, where he was actively involved in evaluating and conducting due diligence for new investment opportunities for Onex Partners Fund 1. Previously, he had worked in the Canada Group of Morgan Stanley and was involved in various M&A and financing-related assignments.
Ryan graduated with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, with an Honors degree in Business Administration. He received his A.B., Economics and Math, from Bowdoin College.
Jon joined TriWest in 2007 and is a Vice President in the investment group. Prior to joining TriWest, Jon worked as an Analyst at RBC Capital Markets in the Global Energy Group where he was involved in a number of public equity offerings and mergers and acquisition assignments.
From 2008 to 2010, Jon served as president for the Calgary Chapter of the Richard Ivey School of Business Alumni Association and was formerly a Director of a TSX-Venture listed Capital Pool Corporation.
Jon graduated with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, with an Honors degree in Business Administration.
Dave joined TriWest in 2011 and is an Associate in the investment group. Prior to joining TriWest, Dave worked as an Investment Banking Associate at Stonecap Securities (and its predecessor Blackmont Capital) in Toronto, where he was involved with equity financings and M&A advisory assignments in a variety of industries, including industrials, mining, telecom and financial services.
Dave received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree, with a concentration in finance, from the Queen’s School of Business, where he graduated with First Class Distinction. Dave is also a CFA Level III candidate.
Taylor Ethans is an Analyst at TriWest Capital. Prior to joining TriWest in 2012, Taylor worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at RBC’s Global Energy Group in Calgary, where he was involved in various merger, acquisition, and divestiture assignments, as well as public equity and debt offerings.
Taylor holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours with Distinction) degree, with a concentration in finance, from the University of Manitoba.
Brenda joined TriWest in 2003 and is Vice President in the Finance Group. Prior to her work with TriWest, Brenda was a Senior Manager with KPMG, where she provided assurance and business advisory services to a wide array of entrepreneurial clients
Brenda obtained her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 2002. She was also awarded the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation in 1994.
Brenda earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta, and obtained her Accounting Diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton.
John joined TriWest in 2011 as a manager in the Finance Group. Prior to joining TriWest, John was a manager at MNP LLP where he provided assurance, tax and advisory services.
John received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and has earned his Certified Public Accountant designation. John has also completed all three Chartered Financial Analyst exams.
